Area: 130,000 sqm.
Location: Qatar
Tobia Architects and Moriyama & Teshima Architects from Toronto Canada collaborated to develop a conceptual design for a new Health Care Complex in Qatar which includes a 400 bed hospital facility complete with OR suites, labour suites, and a trauma centre.
The hospital concept is based on site considerations, orientation, sustainability, future flexibility, and modular design. The hospital design features light fill spaces with views to the outside and building massing that is balanced and visible from the main roads. The interior layouts provide users with clear way finding, careful separation between spaces to provide privacy and comfort, and appropriate visual interest and views to ease the stress of being in a hospital environment.
The concept supports a horizontal open-ended expandable strategy that minimizes construction disruption to the occupied space built in the initial phase. Similarly, the site master plan is designed to accommodate the future expansion of medical, research and administrative facilities.
