Three Locations in Qatar for the Integrated Health Centre and Workers Hospital
Completed in 2016, the Industrial Area Hospital (Abu Nakhla Hospital), also known as the Integrated Health Centre and Workers Hospital, was the first of three hospital projects geared towards improving access to health care services for the expatriate workers population in Qatar.
Since then, two similar projects have been implemented, with modifications to suit the specific requirements of the respective sites; the Ras Laffan Hospital was completed in late 2017 and the Mesaieed Hospital was completed in 2018 .
On the Industrial Area Hospital (Abu Nakhla Hospital) project, Nadia Tobia, while a partner with Farrow Partnership Architects, served as Project Director and Senior Designer during the programming, concept and preliminary design stages.
The project consisted of a hospital and ambulatory care facility, which included a commissioning zone, outpatient clinics, an emergency department, radiology, operating suites, support facilities, and administration spaces. The exterior elevation was designed by Gharnata Consulting Engineers, a consulting firm based in Qatar, whose work reflects the client’s request for design inspired by traditional architecture.
